Last night I read at Bluestockings Bookstore on the Lower East Side, and it was very successful. A good crowd (maybe 40-50 people), my friends, relatives; it was great, and I enjoyed every minute of it. First, we had dinner at Sauce with Gabriela Landa, Stuart Goldman, and Alice Ladas (my relatives from both sides who have met and really like each other).
The reading itself lasted about an hour, with a half-hour question period, and then we went to Katz's Deli with Alex Feinstein for a pastrami sandwich, and didn't die!
Thanks to everyone who helped me last night: the above-named, Stu Leigh, who did my sound, Michael Usyk, who is always there helping with everything, and the staff at Bluestockings, who were very pleasant and ready to help at any moment. ALso, everyone who gave me words of encouragement before the event. Much appreciated.
